NOTE: Our lab often receives questions regarding the optional shell material: Performance RX™. Therefore, the following description is provided:
Performance RX™ is an ultra-thin, lightweight shell material; it is 5 times stronger than polypropylene.
Performance RX™ has variable thickness and is available in 3 rigidities (see chart to the right). Unlike other orthotic shell materials, Performance RX™ is not uniform in thickness. It is thinnest under the heel (1.5mm before grinding, in all rigidities), as well as the distal edge and perimeter.
Differing rigidity characteristics provide thinness in certain areas of the shell where it helps stiffen appropriately, but doesn’t add functional bulk. Only 1.5mm of material at contact points of shoes offers exceptional shoe fit.
Performance RX™ has a lifetime guarantee against breakage with excellent shape memory. It is easily spot heated and ground without weakening the shell at the lab or in-office. Unlike carbon fiber, deep heel cups and mild flanges are achievable.
Performance RX™ is one of our most popular shell materials.
